Bosworth Bakery – Supporting Our Local Momtrepreneurs… And Having Cake While Doing So. {COMPETITION CLOSED}

This post is a little overdue… but I needed time to come out of my cake coma first.

About a week ago Megan Bosworth showed up at my door with the most beautiful personalized cake. Megan is a very loyal follower of my little blog and it always warms my heart when a comment of hers pops up somewhere. As you know, this blog is a bit of a hobby of mine –  I do love it dearly, but I am no professional writer. So when someone spends time and effort to show some gratitude towards my work…well…

She even put a pink peony on top… that’s my favourite flower.

Megan used to work full time and made cakes on the side as a hobby. After getting married April 2011 (happy soon to be anniversary!), she handed in her resignation and took the plunge of opening her own business – Bosworth Bakery. It worked out perfectly seeing as Megan got pregnant and working from home suited their little family just fine. Megan’s gorgeous daughter, Lexi was born 23 March 2012 and her son, Ben, was born in April last year.

Megan has been pouring her heart and soul into her business, “times have been tough, but we have always pulled through.” I personally envy moms that can stay at home with their kids and still run a business… although in reality I know that it is tough. I really want to use Caffeine and Fairydust as a platform to promote our momtrepreneurs – starting a business takes guts, you deserve recognition for all your hard work.

In a market that is so flooded, it is difficult to know which company to choose when it comes to placing orders for cakes/cupcakes. Yes, they might look pretty – but do they taste amazing? I think it’s especially hard when it comes to birthdays and weddings – you want someone that will put love and care into creating the cake of your dreams, someone who pays attention to little details and puts effort into her work. Well, I can vouch for Megan.

It just so happens that Cole’s grandfather was visiting from Johannesburg, at 86-years old I think he is living proof that good cake can make you live a long and happy life! Pa has cake every single day… every day (please consult with your healthcare practitioner before starting this diet). Point is, he is a cake connoisseur, and he loved Megan’s cake.

I loved the cake because it was not too sweet and it almost had a dark chocolate taste to it. The ganache was to die for… it was just perfect, not too heavy and not too light. The cake was perfectly moist – I cannot stand the word moist – but there it is, I’d rather use to word moist than eat a dry cake!
